According to local lore, it served as a royal pavilion for kings resting their troops during military campaigns, including King Prasat Thong. Visitors can explore a unique old viharn with a junk-boat curved base, an impressive prang built during the reigns of Rama III and IV, and ancient murals.

Wat Prasat is an ancient temple dating back to the Ayutthaya period, as evidenced by its boundary markers (Sema stones), ancient Buddha statues, and the principal Buddha image. Local oral tradition tells that the site was originally used as a royal pavilion or military camp where kings rested their armies when setting out to oppose enemies. King Prasat Thong of Ayutthaya is said to have stayed overnight at this temple.

- Old Viharn and Prasat: The old viharn features a unique curved base designed in the shape of a junk boat.
- Grand Prang: A large prang tower constructed during the reigns of King Rama III and King Rama IV.
- Mural Paintings: The wall behind the principal Buddha image displays paintings depicting the Himavanta pond and animals of the cardinal directions. The side walls feature standing Buddha images on lotus pedestals flanked by praying disciples.
- Century-Old Yang Tree Grove: Located at the rear of the temple grounds, there is a grove of large Yang trees that are nearly a hundred years old.
