Wat Amphawan
53 หมู่ 4
Located in Phrom Buri Subdistrict, it is presumed that the temple has been named since the Ayutthaya period. There is a Chinese inscription stating that Chinese merchants sailed their ships to trade with King Narai the Great in Lopburi, together with the Dutch. They first built the Ubosot (ordination hall) of Wat Amphawan. By 1968, the old Ubosot was very dilapidated and collapsed, so it was demolished and a new Ubosot was built, which was completed on March 31, 1970.
About this Place
Furthermore, this is an important temple known for Vipassana meditation practice, owing to the fame of Luang Por Charan Thitadhammo, or Phra Ratcha Sutthiyanmongkol, as a highly accomplished meditation master who has made significant contributions to Buddhism. Currently, even though he has passed away, Wat Amphawan remains a place for Vipassana meditation practice, attracting a large number of people interested in studying Buddhist teachings and practicing meditation.
