ソンクラー湖下部の中央に位置する島で、その大部分は丘陵地帯と山麓の平野です。島の住民のほとんどはソンクラー湖での漁業で生計を立てています。コ・ヨーはソンクラー湖で有名な養殖魚の産地でもあります。島では「サームロン」と呼ばれる果樹栽培が行われており、これは果物が一年中順番に実ることを意味します。例えば、ポメロ、ココナッツ、ジャックフルーツ、そしてジャムパーダーなどです。ジャムパーダーはコ・ヨー島で有名な果物で、ジャックフルーツに似ていますが、小ぶりです。カキフライのように揚げて食べることも、そのまま生で食べることもできます。
また、コ・ヨー島の伝統的な織物である民族織物のグループもあります。これは有名で、ラーチャワット模様、ピクン花模様、パヨム花模様などの独特な模様があります。
