Wat Mani Phraison (Chedi Wihan Sam Phutthe Pagoda)

Located along Intharakhiri Road in downtown Mae Sot, Wat Mani Phraison stands as one of the most culturally unique and visually striking Buddhist complexes on the Thailand–Myanmar border.

Established in 1785 (B.E. 2328) during the reign of King Rama I of Siam, the temple beautifully synthesizes traditional Siamese, Northern Lanna, and Burmese architectural traditions reflecting Mae Sot's vibrant crossroads history.

Key highlights and sacred structures include:

• Chedi Wihan Sam Phutthe (Sambuddhe Pagoda): The crowning jewel of the monastery. Completed in 1986 and meticulously restored in 2011, this awe-inspiring Burmese-style golden stupa complex features a commanding central spire surrounded by a multi-tiered pyramid of 233 satellite stupas. Incredibly, within its inner sanctum and outer alcoves, it enshrines exactly 512,028 Buddha statues and relief plaques.
• 200-Year-Old Historic Ubosot: The venerable ordination hall dates back to the temple's founding era, distinguished by exquisite pierced teakwood pediments, intricate floral carvings, and traditional multi-tiered roof gables.
• Revered Buddha Images: Devotees flock to pay respects before Phra Sakyamuni Sri Mueang Chot and Phra Chao Saen Luang, alongside beautiful white Burmese marble Buddha statues.
• Bilingual Cultural Heritage: The temple courtyard and pavilions feature monastic living quarters and meditation halls that blend Burmese teak craftsmanship with contemporary Buddhist art.

Visitor Etiquette: Admission is free. Please dress respectfully with covered shoulders and knees when entering temple shrines and the stupa sanctuary. Footwear must be removed before entering the pagoda vihara.
