Wat Burapharam
หมู่ 1 ถนนจิตรบำรุง
About this Place
Located at Moo 1, Jittraboomrung Road, Nai Mueang Subdistrict, opposite the Surin Provincial Prosecutor's Office. It is a third-class royal monastery, believed to have been built during the Thonburi or early Rattanakosin period by Phraya Surin Phakdi Si Narong Chang Wang (Pum). Within the temple, the important sacred object is Luang Por Phra Chi, a Buddha image in the Maravichai posture, with a lap width of 4 'sok'. It is molded from compacted fired clay, with features resembling Khmer art. It serves as the principal Buddha image of the temple, enshrined in a brick and cement Chatura Muk (four-faced) vihara located west of the ubosot. In the past, officials who had to perform the oath-taking ceremony would do so in front of Luang Por Phra Chi. This later turned into a spiritual refuge for making wishes and praying for success or protection.
