Thep Phithak Punnaram Temple (Phra Khao Temple)

Thep Phithak Punnaram Temple is located on Khao Si Siat A, Klang Dong village, on the right side of Highway No. 2 (Mittraphap Road) at kilometer marker 150. There is a 2-kilometer turn-off with a paved road leading to the temple. At Thep Phithak Punnaram Temple, there is a large white statue of the Buddha in the gesture of giving blessings, named "Phra Buddha Sakon Simamongkol". This name was bestowed by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great. Local villagers commonly call it Luang Por Khao or Luang Por Yai (The Great White Monk or The Great Monk). The lap width is 27.25 meters and the height is 45 meters, symbolizing the 45 years the Buddha enlightened sentient beings, or his 45 years of Buddhist missions after enlightenment. It is constructed of reinforced concrete, standing prominently on a mountaintop, 112 meters or 56 wa above ground level, symbolizing the 56 virtues of the Buddha. To the left and right of the Buddha statue, curved structures shaped like Bodhi leaves have been built. The staircase has a total of 1,250 steps, symbolizing the number of arahants who gathered spontaneously on Magha Puja day.
