宋干节巴冲

巴冲市 Municipal Government, Tourism Authority of Thailand and network partners, will hold the Phra Pradaeng Songkran Festival 2026 from April 24-26, 2026, at the Phra Pradaeng District Office and surrounding areas of Phra Pradaeng City Municipality. Interesting activities include the Miss Songkran and Handsome Man Pageant, traditional games (Sabah), Miss Songkran procession and float procession, bird and fish processions, and demonstration of the making of Kalamae (a type of toffee) of Phra Pradaeng.

The Phra Pradaeng Songkran Festival, formerly known as Pak Khlong Songkran Festival, is a folk tradition that the Thai-Mon people have upheld for generations since the reign of King Rama II of the Chakri Dynasty. According to tradition, on Songkran Day, villagers dress in Mon traditional attire to make merit at various temples, and they release birds and fish to ward off bad luck and bring good fortune to themselves and their families. At night, Sabah games are played at different homes.

On December 6, 2023, UNESCO declared Songkran in Thailand as a representative list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity. The Phra Pradaeng Songkran Festival is one of the five model Songkran festivals in Thailand nominated by the Department of Cultural Promotion, Ministry of Culture, for inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage list. The Phra Pradaeng Songkran Festival is held one week after the Thai Songkran Day. Another highlight is the Miss Songkran procession, along with the bird and fish processions organized by various agencies/villages, and the magnificent beauty of the flower float procession, which the people of Phra Pradaeng have preserved and practiced annually.
