Wat Thai Watthanaram (Burmese-Shan Temple Mae Sot)

Located in Tha Sai Luat subdistrict just minutes from the Thai-Myanmar border in Mae Sot, Wat Thai Watthanaram (originally known as Wat Mae Tao Ngiew) is a breathtaking showcase of classical Burmese-Mon Buddhist architecture and Tai Yai (Shan) heritage.

Founded in 1857 (B.E. 2400) by a prominent Shan merchant named Nai Mung (later granted the noble title Muen At Khamhaeng Han), the monastery stands today as a symbol of deep cross-cultural spiritual devotion.
