关于此景点

Wat Tha It stands as one of the most magnificent religious landmarks in Ang Thong province. Known for its historical legacy dating back to the late Ayutthaya era and its glittering golden stupa, this temple offers visitors a serene atmosphere steeped in spiritual heritage.

History & Significance

Wat Tha It was established in 1761. The location is believed to have originally served as a manufacturing and firing hub for the bricks used to build Wat Khun Inthapramun, leading to its name Tha It, meaning brick pier. In 1992, Abbot Phra Khru Sukhonthasinkhun (Luang Pho Hom) initiated the construction of a grand pagoda. In 1995, during the pagoda's construction, King Rama IX fell ill, prompting the abbot to dedicate the construction to His Majesty's recovery. King Rama IX graciously bestowed the name Phra That Chedi Sri Pho Thong upon the structure, and Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn presided over its formal opening ceremony in 2000.
