Wat Photharam (Luang Por Phra Yai Temple)

Located at Ban Tha Khrai, Bueng Kan Subdistrict, it is home to Luang Por Phra Yai, a Buddha image in the Maravichai posture with a lap width of 5 feet 4 inches. It is enshrined as the principal Buddha image in the Ubosot (Ordination Hall), which was renovated in B.E. 2537 (A.D. 1994). There are two annual celebrations for Luang Por Phra Yai: the Boon Duean 3 tradition or Boon Khao Jee, where wax castles are offered, and the week after the Songkran festival, which is the tradition of bathing Luang Por Phra Yai. Inside the Ubosot, men are allowed to enter and pay respects to Luang Por Phra Yai, while women can only pay respects from the area in front of the Ubosot.
