Wat Lokkayasutharam (Wat Phra Non)
199/29 ถนนอู่ทอง
Located in Prathu Chai sub-district, near the Royal Palace and Wat Phra Si Sanphet, which were the center of the Ayutthaya Kingdom. It can be inferred that this is one of the important temples within Ayutthaya Island.
关于此景点
Within the temple is enshrined the largest reclining Buddha image on Ayutthaya Island. It has an ancient history and is mentioned in the Ayutthaya Chronicle as a route for King Boromakoso to pay homage to the reclining Buddha. The image is a large outdoor reclining Buddha, white, constructed of brick and plaster. The image is 42 meters long and 8 meters high. Despite its age, the details remain quite complete, with a serene face, filled with bliss and overflowing with merit. The head is beautifully supported by a lotus base.
This reclining Buddha is considered one of Ayutthaya's highlights, attracting both Thai and foreign tourists. It is a heritage that was not destroyed along with the war, and it is a source of pride for the people of Ayutthaya as a World Heritage city.
In addition, there are traces of large buildings and cloistered walkways remaining to be seen. There is a prominent prang, about 30 meters high, which is the main structure of the temple. Therefore, Wat Phra Non is another suitable place for those interested in history and archaeology on Ayutthaya Island.
