Wat Chedi Hoi

The giant oyster shells, buried underground and millions of years old, which were used to construct stupas, are the origin of the name 'Wat Chedi Hoi'. The temple was established in 1995 by Phra Khru Sunthon Khun Thada, also known as Luang Por Thong Kleng Suntharo. After a one-lent pilgrimage in Myanmar, where he studied advanced incantations under the guidance of Phra Arjan Silabanta, he returned to Tham Ong Juk Cave in Sri Sawat District, Kanchanaburi Province. There, he had a vision that the current location of Wat Chedi Hoi was once a great city named Rattana Wadi 8 million years ago, with himself as its ruler. He decided to follow this vision, which led him to the site. He resolved to transform this land into a temple. While excavating a pond for watering medicinal herbs, a vast quantity of ancient oyster shells was found. These were then used to build stupas at the entrance and a large stupa within the temple, attracting visitors from all directions. Additionally, the temple houses a museum displaying a large collection of Buddha images, artifacts, antiques, and old utensils, including the world's largest giant clam shell, which Luang Por Thong Kleng brought from Ranong Province, a wishing gong that resonates with a mere touch, ancient earthenware jars, pottery, carved wood, calculators, and more. There is also a herb garden, a turtle pond, and a fish pond where visitors can feed the animals and enjoy a relaxing visit every day. The temple is open daily from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
