วัดนาควัชรโสภณ เดิมชื่อ วัดช้าง สร้างขึ้นในสมัยสุโขทัยตอนปลาย ประมาณหลังพุทธศตวรรษที่ 19 เป็นวัดที่มีความสำคัญ ตั้งอยู่หน้าเมืองด้านทิศตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ ตรงข้ามกับวัดเจ้าเมือง กำแพงเพชร เป็นวัดอยู่ในกลุ่มอรัญญิกด้านทิศตะวันออก รูปแบบสภาพแวดล้อมทั้งหมดได้รับอิทธิพลมาจากศิลปะสมัยลพบุรีหรือขอม นอกจากนี้ยังพบร่องรอยของถนนพระร่วงตัดผ่านหน้าวัดนี้ด้วย วัดช้างนับเป็นวัดเก่าแก่สร้างมาประมาณ 700 ปีเศษ ลักษณะสภาพโดยทั่วไปของกลุ่มโบราณสถานจะถูกล้อมรอบด้วยคูน้ำกว้างประมาณ 10 เมตร ยาวประมาณ 509 เมตร มีเนื้อที่ตั้งวัด 62 ไร่ การคมนาคมสะดวก บริเวณวัดสะอาด ร่มรื่นด้วยต้นไม้ สวยงามตามธรรมชาติ
