关于此景点
History & Significance
The Tai-Yuan Teen Jok Weaving Museum was founded by Mr. Jongjaroon Manokham in Chai Chumphon Subdistrict, Uttaradit Province. It serves as an essential learning center dedicated to preserving and transmitting the traditional wisdom of Tai-Yuan "Teen Jok" (woven fabric with intricate foot patterns). The northern region of Thailand, particularly Laplae in Uttaradit, is historically recognized as a prominent home of the Tai-Yuan people, who are highly celebrated for their exquisite Teen Jok sarongs.
Highlights & What to See
The museum is housed in a beautiful two-story teakwood building. Inside, visitors can admire a collection of ancient, hand-woven textiles that are over a hundred years old, alongside contemporary applied local fabrics. The ground floor (underneath the elevated house) serves as an active workshop featuring traditional weaving looms. Notably, the weavers here operate the looms without using heddles (takor or khao huk), relying entirely on their exceptional skill, precision, and memory to create intricate patterns. These patterns reflect the authentic identity of the Laplae community, including famous motifs such as Lai Dok Phutson (gardenia pattern), Lai Dok Khia, Lai Dok Hong Khruea, Lai Nok Khum, Lai Nak (naga pattern), and Lai Paet Kho.
Visitor Information
The museum is open daily from 08:00 AM to 04:00 PM. Admission is free. On-site facilities include parking and restrooms. For inquiries, visitors can contact Mr. Jongjaroon Manokham at 087-198-7353.
