Phraya Surasih Wisitsak House

History & Significance

The house belonged to Chao Phraya Surasih Wisitsak (Chao Khun Choei Kalyanamitr), who served as the High Commissioner of Monthon Phayap during the reign of King Rama V and later as the Minister of Interior during the reign of King Rama VI. This historic residence stands as a testament to the region's administrative history and architectural evolution, preserved for over a hundred years.

Highlights & What to See

The house itself is a magnificent architectural highlight, constructed from golden teak wood in a Panya style with a raised floor, representing a unique fusion of colonial and local design. Inside, visitors can view a valuable collection of historical items, including:

• Important administrative documents dating before B.E. 2475 (1932)
• Medals of rank belonging to Chao Khun Choei
• Ancient books, historical photographs, and classic furniture
• Sculptures and various antique household utensils

Visitor Information

The Phraya Surasih Wisitsak House is open daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Admission is free, but visitors are required to make an appointment in advance by calling 06 3289 5564.
