History & Significance

The Nai Dok Nai Thong Kaeo Monument was co-created by the people of Wiset Chai Chan and Ang Thong province to honor the supreme sacrifice of Pu Dok and Pu Thong Kaeo (Nai Dok and Nai Thong Kaeo). These two heroic figures from Ban Pho Thale, Wiset Chai Chan, courageously gave their lives to protect the Thai kingdom during the historic battle at Bang Rajan Camp in 1766 (B.E. 2309), shortly before the fall of the Ayutthaya Kingdom. On March 25, 2017, His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn (Rama X) presided over the official opening ceremony of the monument. Consequently, March 25 of every year has become an annual day of tribute to commemorate the bravery and selflessness of both heroes.

Highlights & What to See

The monument features life-sized brass statues of Nai Dok and Nai Thong Kaeo standing resolutely on a raised pedestal. Visitors can pay their respects to these legendary figures and appreciate the fine craftsmanship of the brass sculptures. Located right in front of Wiset Chai Chan Witthayakom School and adjacent to Wat Wiset Chai Chan, the site serves as an educational landmark and a source of local pride. Every year on March 25, a special memorial ceremony is held here, featuring local tributes and cultural activities to honor their legacy.
