Wongburi House (Khun Wongburi)

Wongburi House (Khun Wongburi) is located on Kham Lue Road. Mae Chao Buathas built it in 1997 (B.E. 2440) by craftsmen from Guangdong Province, People's Republic of China, as a wedding gift for the union of Chao Phrom Wong Phra Thang, or Luang Phong Phibul, a descendant of the former ruler of Nan, and Chao Sunantha Wongburi, daughter of Chao Phuri (Phraya Burirat). 

It is a two-story European-adapted (Victorian) golden teak house, light pink in color, with a double-layered hip roof. Its distinctive features are the carved wooden vine patterns or 'gingerbread' patterns found on various parts of the building, which were popular during the reign of King Rama V. The interior is decorated with silver items, glassware, ceramics, carved teak furniture, Buddha images from the Chiang Saen and U Thong periods, and heirlooms passed down through generations. Rare historical documents are also on display, such as royal decrees from King Rama V, slave purchase agreements over 100 years old, logging concession documents, elephant identification papers, and cattle identification papers. 
Wongburi House received an Outstanding Conservation award in 1993 (B.E. 2536) from the Association of Siamese Architects under the Royal Patronage of His Majesty the King. It has also served as a filming location for several movies and dramas and hosts Khantoke dinner events.
