Locals affectionately call it 'Wat Nam Hak,' meaning 'Broken Water Temple.' This intriguing name stems from a natural phenomenon that once occurred on the western side of the temple along the Ping River. During the rainy season, the powerful currents from the Mae Tho stream would collide with and divert the Ping River's flow, creating a distinctive swirling eddy near the temple's pier. While land reclamation has since altered the riverbed and the swirling waters are no longer visible, the name 'Wat Nam Hak' remains a charming testament to this historical quirk.
