Wat Sawang Arom

Located in Pakkhat Subdistrict, shaded by trees with a small stream flowing over large sandstone rocks. This is where the inverted bell-shaped ubosot is situated. The cave below houses a large reclining Buddha image in the parinirvana posture. The area on top of the rocks offers a beautiful viewpoint of the Mekong River.

It is assumed that this area was originally inhabited by the people of Pakkhat village, who migrated from Pak Klong village, Paksanh, Lao People's Democratic Republic. The area back then was dense, wild forest filled with various wild animals. Every year, Buddhist monks on pilgrimage would regularly stop here, as it was a peaceful place suitable for meditation.

Later, Phra Athikan Don Intasaro, or Luang Pu Don, a highly respected monk by the people of Pakkhat, built and developed the temple to its current prosperity. The reason it is also known as "Wat Si Thon" is presumed to be because the temple is located near Pengchan Nakarat city, which was the city of Thao Si Thon.
