Sawang Arom Temple

Located in Pak Kkhat Subdistrict, shaded by trees with a small stream flowing over large sandstone rocks, it is home to the bell-shaped ubosot. The cave below houses a large reclining Buddha in the Parinirvana posture. The top of the rock offers a beautiful viewpoint of the Mekong River. It is assumed that this area was originally inhabited by Pak Kkhat villagers who migrated from Pak Klay Village, Pak San City, Lao People's Democratic Republic. The area was previously dense jungle, full of various wild animals. Every year, monks on pilgrimage would regularly stop here as it was a peaceful place suitable for meditation. Later, Phra Athikan Don Insaro, or Luang Pu Don, a monk respected by the people of Pak Kkhat, built and developed the temple to its current prosperity. The reason it is also called "Sri Thon Temple" is speculated to be because the temple is located near Peng Chan Nakhon Ratch, the city of Thao Sri Thon.
