Pha Hee Village (Baan Pha Hee)

History & Significance

Pha Hee Village is home to the Akha ethnic group. Historically, the villagers relied on opium cultivation for their livelihood. However, a major transition began in 1981 when the Thai government stepped in to promote coffee cultivation as an alternative crop. This shift was further strengthened in 1988 when the Doi Tung Development Project established a coffee research and trial plot in the area. Since then, the villagers of Baan Pha Hee have embraced coffee farming as their primary sustainable occupation, earning a reputation for producing excellent local coffee.

Visitors can explore the village, interact with the friendly Akha residents, and taste premium Arabica coffee harvested directly from the surrounding hillsides. Visitor Information

Pha Hee Village is open daily to visitors from 08:00 AM to 05:00 PM. There is no admission fee to enter the village. On-site facilities include parking spaces and public restrooms. For inquiries, visitors can contact the village headman at 0894317479.

How to Get There

Located at 169 Moo 10, Pong Ngam Subdistrict, Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai Province, the village is situated on the mountain road between Doi Tung and Doi Chang Mub, leading down towards Tham Luang. It is located approximately 13 kilometers uphill from Baan Pha Mee, which sits on the lower flat plains.
