History & Significance

The Khao Phang Suspension Bridge is located in the Ban Khao Thep Phitak Community in Surat Thani. Built with large steel cables anchored to sturdy concrete pillars and paved with wooden planks over a steel frame, the bridge serves as a vital link for the local community. The residents of Ban Khao Thep Phitak primarily earn their living through mixed fruit farming and rubber cultivation, maintaining a traditional agricultural lifestyle that they warmly share with visitors.

Highlights & What to See

The main highlight of the Khao Phang Suspension Bridge is the spectacular natural scenery. From the bridge, you can look down at the flowing Khlong Saeng River and gaze at the famous heart-shaped mountain (Khao Thep Phitak) rising majestically at the end of the bridge. Within the community, visitors can explore local fruit orchards growing durian, mangosteen, and longkong, and marvel at a massive durian tree that is over 100 years old. During the durian harvesting season from June to July, visitors can buy fresh fruits directly from the farmers. On Saturdays and Sundays, the community hosts the Ban Khao Thep Phitak OTOP Nawatwithi Community Tourism Market, where locals sell fresh agricultural produce and handmade goods.
