Kamphaeng Saeng Temple

It is likely the only temple in Phetchaburi Province with Lopburi-era ancient sites from the Khmer empire's prosperous period. It is presumed to have originally been a sanctuary built for Brahmanism-Hinduism around 1700-1750 AD, during the reign of King Jayavarman VII, who was able to extend Khmer influence into the Chao Phraya River basin in the past. When Brahmanism declined, this place became a Buddhist temple, but it later became abandoned. Later, during the Ayutthaya period, it was renovated and converted into a Buddhist temple named Wat Kamphaeng Saeng. However, traces of Khmer civilization remain through the laterite walls and the gateway to the prasat in the Bayon style. Inside the prasat, there are 5 prangs, with the main prang situated in the center and 4 other prangs positioned on the four sides, decorated with patterns in the Brahmanical style, such as kanok, deities, lions, and garudas, etc. Each prang was a shrine housing deities: Lord Shiva, Lord Brahma, Lord Narayana, Goddess Lakshmi, and Lord Skanda. Originally there were 5 prangs, but only 3 remain today.
