History & Significance

Ban Tha Khan Thong Community is located in Ban Saeo Subdistrict, Chiang Rai Province. It was founded by Isan (Northeastern Thai) migrants who moved to settle along the scenic banks of the Mekong River. Over time, this migration created a unique cultural fusion where Isan and Lanna (Northern Thai) traditions seamlessly coexist. Today, the villagers lead a simple agricultural lifestyle, speaking both Isan and Northern dialects, while keeping their heritage alive through Mor Lam music and the playing of the traditional Khaen instrument.

• E-tok Tractor Rides: Take a scenic ride on a traditional "E-tok" agricultural tractor along the banks of the Mekong River.
• Local Crafts & Agriculture: Learn the traditional art of hand-weaving fabrics, visit integrated agricultural farms, and explore Sacha Inchi (Inca star peanut) plantations. You can also witness the traditional method of milling brown rice using a hand-operated mill.
