Baan Dam Museum (Black House)

History & Significance

Baan Dam Museum was created by Thawan Duchanee, a renowned Thai National Artist in Visual Arts (Painting). Designed to evoke imagination and showcase local heritage, the complex serves as a repository for historical artifacts and traditional lifestyle items alongside unique folk art pieces crafted by local artisans from the past to the present.

Highlights & What to See

The museum complex features over 25 traditional Northern Thai architectural buildings as well as several applied northern-style structures. Every building is painted in striking black and decorated with elaborate wood carvings. Inside, visitors will find unique exhibits including large crocodile skins, snake skins, various animal horns, and traditional everyday tools used in historical living.

Visitor Information
