วัดสระบัวถือเป็นวัดเก่าแก่มาตั้งแต่สมัยอยุธยาตอนปลาย อุโบสถอ่อนโค้งเป็นทรงเรือสำเภา ซึ่งสถาปัตยกรรมอุโบสถแห่งนี้ยังเป็นเหมือนแรกสร้างวัด และยังไม่เคยได้รับการบูรณะมาเลย จึงถือว่าเป็นอุโบสถศิลปะอยุธยาโดยแท้ และนอกจากนี้ใบเสมารอบพระอุโบสถก็เป็นงานปูนปั้นศิลปะอยุธยาที่งดงามตั้งแต่ฐานจนถึงยอด วัดนี้จึงเป็นวัดหนึ่งที่ไม่ควรพลาดถ้าอยากชมศิลปะอยุธยาที่ยังไม่มีการเสริมหรือเติมแต่ง
