History & Significance

San Kamphaeng Hot Springs is a long-standing natural landmark in the Chiang Mai region. Geographically located in Ban Sahakon, Mae On District (which was formerly part of San Kamphaeng District before being designated as a minor district in 1994), this natural site has been developed into a beautifully landscaped park to welcome local and international travelers seeking relaxation and wellness.

Highlights & What to See

The main attraction is the geyser-type hot spring, created by underground water heated by high-temperature volcanic rocks beneath the earth's crust. This pressure forces the water up through rock fractures, creating impressive geysers that shoot up to 15 meters into the air at temperatures exceeding 100 degrees Celsius.

Key activities and features include:

  • Foot Soaking: Visitors can sit along the flowing warm streams to soak their feet and relieve fatigue.
  • Egg Boiling: A popular activity where guests can purchase eggs to boil in the designated high-temperature hot spring pools.
  • Mineral Baths & Pools: Facilities include private mineral bath cabins, public mineral swimming pools, and group tubs.
  • Lush Gardens: The surrounding area is beautifully decorated with colorful flower gardens, offering a peaceful atmosphere.
