History & Significance

The Royal Coronation Ceremony Photo Museum is located within the historic Old Ang Thong Governor's Residence, which has been preserved and transformed into an exhibition center. The museum commemorates the sacred traditions of the royal institution and the Royal Coronation Ceremony, an event symbolizing the prosperity of the nation and the unity of the Thai people. Ang Thong holds notable historical significance as one of the designated locations for gathering sacred water (Benja Suttha Khongkha) used in royal purification rites since the early Rattanakosin period.

The exhibition inside the museum is divided into four main zones:

  • Zone 1 (Benja Suttha Khongkha): Presents the historical importance of Ang Thong Province as one of the five sacred water sources gathered for the Murathaphisek (royal purification bath) in the coronation ceremony.
  • Zone 2 (Ang Thong Under Royal Benevolence): Features a collection of photographs of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn during his royal visits and official duties in Ang Thong Province.
  • Zone 3: Showcases royal portraits and the royal biography of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn.
  • Zone 4: Illustrates the background, proceedings, and historical records of the Royal Coronation Ceremony in the present reign.

Visitor Information
