Phra That Phanom is considered the birth relic for people born in the Year of the Monkey and the birth relic for those born on Sunday. According to legend, it was built by 500 arahants led by Mahakassapa.

Located at Wat Phra That Phanom Woramahawihan, Chayangkun Road, That Phanom Subdistrict. Archaeological excavations have revealed that Phra That Phanom was built between 1200-1400 AD. Inside the stupa is enshrined the Urangkhathat (breastbone relic) of Lord Buddha. The top of the stupa is adorned with a golden umbrella weighing 110 kilograms, beautifully decorated with gems. On August 11, 1975, Phra That Phanom collapsed entirely due to its age, continuous heavy rainfall, and strong storms. A new stupa was built in the original style, completed on March 29, 1979. Phra That Phanom is theประจำวัน relic for those born on Sunday and those born in the Year of the Monkey. It is believed that devotees who pay homage will receive merits and gain respect from others. An annual festival to pay homage to Phra That Phanom is held from the 10th day of the waxing moon to the 1st day of the waning moon in the 3rd lunar month.
