N a Muean Si Woven Fabric Group

Na Muean Si woven fabric is named after a subdistrict in Nayong District, Trang Province, renowned for its traditional local fabrics since ancient times. The fabric is woven on a traditional loom called a 'huak', crafted from the villagers' indigenous knowledge. The fabrics feature unique patterns, with historical evidence found in the chronicles from the reign of King Rama VI, during his tour of the southern provinces around 128 BE (1909 CE). He observed the weaving in Trang, with a passage in the chronicle stating, "Under the house, it was used as a place to learn weaving, with many women coming to learn." 

Currently, this local wisdom is being preserved and a community learning center, the Na Muean Si Woven Fabric Community Learning Center, has been established at 119 Moo 8, Na Muean Si Subdistrict. The center is a traditional wooden house with high stilts. The upper floor serves as a museum, showcasing the history of Na Muean Si woven fabric, the local master weavers, and examples of the fabrics. The open ground floor area beneath the house is where villagers sit and weave every day. The Na Muean Si Community Enterprise shop is located in the same area. Tourists or interested individuals can visit daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM to observe the weaving process and purchase Na Muean Si fabrics as well as other local souvenirs.
