Located in Phrommasat Subdistrict, this ancient and important temple is considered the gateway to Lopburi. It is believed to have been built during the reign of King Narai the Great. Originally named Wat Koh Kaeo (Glass Island Temple) because it was situated in the middle of the Lopburi River. Currently, a road has been cut through the middle of the temple, so it no longer resembles an island. His Majesty King Chulalongkorn (King Rama V) bestowed the new name Wat Manee Chonlakarn upon the temple.

Luang Por Saeng Chedi is a tall, slender, white square pagoda that can be seen from afar and is considered a symbol of the temple. It resembles the square pagodas of the Chiang Saen (Lanna) period.
