History & Significance

The Chiang Rai Clock Tower was constructed in 2005 (B.E. 2548) to honor Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother. Designed by Thailand's renowned National Artist Chalermchai Kositpipat, the landmark reflects exquisite Thai artistic techniques and craftsmanship, making it widely recognized as one of the most beautiful clock towers in Thailand.

The clock tower is adorned in brilliant gold and features intricate traditional Thai patterns that showcase the unique style of its designer. During the evening, special lighting techniques transform the structure into a radiant centerpiece. Every night, visitors can witness a 10-minute light, color, and sound show that illuminates the clock tower at scheduled times.

How to Get There

The clock tower is situated at the roundabout where Banpa Pragarn Road intersects with Suk Sathit Road and Jetyod Road in Chiang Rai province.
