จากที่ทำการอุทยานฯ ไป 5 กิโลเมตร เป็นทางแยกแล้วมุ่งหน้างทางไป หมู่บ้านคลองผักขม-ทุ่งโพธิ์ระยะทาง 50 กิโลเมตร แหล่งจระเข้น้ำจืดแก่งยายมากได้สำรวจพบเมื่อ พ.ศ. 2534 ที่ยังเหลืออยู่บริเวณป่าห้วยน้ำเย็น และมีหอดูดาวไว้บริการอยู่ใกล้กับหน่วยพิทักษ์อุทยานฯ ที่ ปด. 1 (แก่งยายมาก) ควรติดต่อเจ้าหน้าที่ก่อนเดินทาง และควรมีเจ้าหน้าที่นำทาง (เป็นพื้นที่ควบคุม)
