Phutthawanaram Temple (Wat Pa Wang Nam Yen)
About this Place
Located in Koeng Subdistrict, it was established in 2006 by Phra Ajarn Suriyan Khospanyo, a disciple of Luang Pu Khamphan Khospanyo, together with people from Mahasarakham who were devoted to jointly build the temple until it was officially recognized as a temple on November 22, 2012, and received the Royal Decoration of Wisungkhamsima on November 11, 2019. Most of the structures within the temple are built from red hardwood, teak, and padauk.
Points of interest within the temple include:
- Chedi Si Mahasarakham: A large golden chedi, surrounded by a two-tiered base of smaller chedis, visible from afar. Inside, five golden Buddha images, each approximately 4 inches wide at the lap, are enshrined.
- Large wooden Sala Kan Parian (Ordination Hall): Built with 112 wooden pillars. Inside, three Buddha images adorned in royal attire, made from pure gold weighing over 12 kilograms, are enshrined.
- Bell tower: Constructed from large teak wood, and the Ubosot (Ordination Hall): Made from gold camphor wood. This temple is highly revered by Buddhists in the area and is frequently visited by tourists for worship and pilgrimage.
