Phu Khae Botanical Garden

History & Significance

Established in 1941, Phu Khae Botanical Garden holds the distinction of being the first botanical garden in Thailand. Spanning an area of 8 square kilometers within the Phra Phutthabat Phu Khae National Reserved Forest, it was created as a dedicated scientific institution for collecting, studying, and researching various plant species. Today, it serves as the Central Botanical Garden of Thailand, playing a vital role in plant conservation and serving as an educational resource for researchers, students, and nature lovers.

The botanical garden is divided into sections on both sides of Phahonyothin Road. Key highlights include:

Visitor Information

Phu Khae Botanical Garden is open daily from 08:00 to 18:00. Admission is free of charge. Visitors are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes to explore the expansive grounds and to respect the natural environment by not littering or damaging the plants.

How to Get There

The garden is located at 123 Moo 1, Phu Khae Subdistrict, Chaloem Phra Kiat District, Saraburi. It is situated along Highway 1 (Phahonyothin Road) on the route from Saraburi to Lopburi, approximately 16 kilometers from Saraburi city center. On-site parking is available for visitors traveling by private car.
