About this Place

Pay homage to the ancient shrine with a large Sandoricum koetjape tree in front. This tree is estimated to be over 300 years old, and legend has it that King Taksin the Great tied his elephant here when he passed through Rayong to gather troops and prepare to fight for independence in Chanthaburi. Inside the shrine is a standing statue of King Taksin the Great ready for battle. Every year, a grand celebration is held during the Chinese New Year festival. Additionally, within the same compound, there is an ancient ordination hall to visit, distinguished by its decorative Chinese-influenced art. Location: Wat Lum Mahachai Chumphon, Taksin Road, Thapradu Subdistrict, Mueang Rayong District, Rayong Province. Open for worship: Daily from 06:00 to 18:00. Getting there: Take Sukhumvit Road (Route 3) from the city until you reach the clock tower. Approximately 200 meters later, you will reach Taksin Intersection. Turn right at Taksin Intersection onto Taksin Maharaj Road.
