Khao Luang National Park

Khao Luang National Park, Lan Saka District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, covers Lan Saka, Mueang, Chawang, Phrom Khiri, Chang Klang, and Nopphitam Districts. The park area covers the central Nakhon Si Thammarat mountain range, consisting of complex high mountains stretching from north to south, parallel to the east coast. The highest peak in the park is Khao Luang, which is also the highest peak in the South, 1,835 meters above sea level. It is the origin of many streams such as the Tapi River, Pak Phanang River, Krung Ching Canal, and Khao Kaeo Canal. The park area has rain throughout the year. The forest is a humid evergreen forest. With its biological and physical potential, Khao Luang National Park has been nicknamed "The Green Roof of the South". The route to Khao Luang peak requires a round-trip trek, taking at least 3 days and 2 nights. Along the way, you will encounter all types of forest conditions, with rare and unusual plants such as the Makha Dam tree, a prominent plant found in valleys with flowing streams, the Lion orchid, the yellow-leafed lion orchid, the rhododendron, the large-lobed fern, and the round-leaved fern, etc. The suitable season to conquer Khao Luang peak is between January and July. This route is suitable for those with some trekking experience and requires a park ranger to lead the way. Entrance fees for Thai citizens are 40 Baht for adults and 20 Baht for children. For foreigners, it's 200 Baht for adults and 100 Baht for children. The park offers accommodation and camping sites for tourists.
