หินตาหินยายอยู่บริเวณหาดละไม เป็นปรากฏการณ์ธรรมชาติของหินแกรนิตอันเกิดจากการกัดเซาะโดยน้ำทะเลและความร้อนจนก่อเกิดเป็นโขดหินรูปร่างประหลาด และชาวบ้านพากันตั้งชื่อให้ว่า หินตาหินยาย ทั้งนี้ ตำนานแห่งหินตาหินยายเป็นเรื่องท้องถิ่น ที่เล่าสืบต่อกันมาว่า นานมาแล้ว มีตายายคู่หนึ่ง ชื่อตาเครงกับยายเรียม ทั้งสองเป็นชาวปากพนัง จากจังหวัดนครศรีธรรมราช เดินทางโดยเรือใบเพื่อจะไปสู่ขอลูกสาวของตาม่องล่าย จังหวัดประจวบคีรีขันธ์ ให้กับลูกชายของตน ครั้นเรือแล่นมาถึงบริเวณอ่าวละไม เกาะสมุย เกิดพายุใหญ่ทำให้เรือล่ม ทั้งตาและยายเสียชีวิต ร่างของทั้งสองถูกคลื่นซัดขึ้นเกยหาด จนกลายเป็นหินดังที่เห็นในปัจจุบัน
